A system of IoT devices to measure load weight in a dumper
Since the nationalisation of coal mines 43 years ago, it has been clear to see that there are five major causes of fatal accidents, including ground movement, falls other than ground falls, winding transportation machinery, other transportation machinery, and explosives, which account for nearly 91% of the total accidents. Because of this, we split the accident’s causes into five groups, with the remaining factors falling under one group.

The goal is to offer an IoT-based solution for determining the dumper’s load weight. In order to prevent overloading of the dumper and hence lessen the likelihood of deadly accidents, the solution should provide dynamic measurements based on the coal loaded into the dumper.
Background of the Problem
In Coal mining a dumper is loaded with Coal and then transported to specific location. In last thirty-three years of fatal accident due to dumper and trackless transportation (truck, tractor, tanker) machinery data of Indian coal mining industry was further analyzed. Average number of accidents due to trackless transport machinery (wheeled) came out to be quite high ranging from 47.2 to 28.3 per year.
Objective
The object is to provide a solution to measure the load weight of the dumper using IoT technology. The solution should give dynamic measurements based of coal loaded into the dumper which will help stop overloading of the dumper and hence mitigate the risks of fatal accidents.
Summary
IoT Weight Sensor by TronicsZone is a cloud connected weighing scale which can measure weights of various load capacities and upload the measured weight periodically to a remote server. It can upload weight either at specified intervals or when the weight changes by a set threshold.
